Company Profile & History
48 Years in Manufacturing Representation
Celebrating 48 years in business, Hilco, Inc. is a leading, established, and innovative manufacturer’s representative firm serving the southeastern states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, middle-eastern Tennessee, and the Florida Panhandle. Hilco Inc. was founded in 1975 by Vernon A Hill. After a successful career with Warner Electric, Vernon Hill resigned as VP of Sales & Marketing to start Hilco Inc. Vernon’s goal was to build a company to serve the southeastern US with the best possible expertise in the application of sensors and industrial automation & process control products.
In 1981 Vernon A Hill Jr joined the Hilco team. By 1986, through some business trials and tribulations, Hilco became a three-person outside sales organization. That same year a decision was made to move Vernon Jr from Hilco North to cover the entire Hilco South Territory.
The mission was to build a strong distributor network and grow the outside sales force in Hilco South. Throughout the 42 years of working for Hilco Inc, Vernon Hill Jr has covered the majority of the states for Hilco, moving from Territory Manager to VP of Sales & Marketing to President. In 1995 Vernon Hill Jr, after undertaking a three-year advanced educational course, received a designation as a CPMR (Certified Professional Manufacturers Representative) from the MRERF/IPA Foundation. In 1998, Vernon Jr’s role changed from President to CEO with a buyout from Vernon Hill Sr.
Today, Hilco Inc. has transitioned to a twelve outside salesperson team, along with five application engineers, strategically positioned throughout the southeast. There is also a group of four talented company support personnel located at the corporate office in Atlanta. Hilco’s sales and application engineering team offer a combined 412 years of industrial control experience. This level of knowledge is to provide Hilco with the ability to deliver a high level of expertise in solving complete and effective automation solutions for our customers and the technical competence and local service to closely support those applied solutions.
Hilco is tactically aligned and partnered with a limited number of leading-edge automation suppliers. These manufacturers are all considered to be market leaders in their respective fields of expertise. We have an overriding pride in the manufacturers we represent, and in our selective, technically trained, automation-focused stocking distributor channel partners.
Our goal has not changed in 48 years. Through the years, we provide and will continue to offer high-quality products to serve our clients demanding automation challenges. We will then back those solutions by providing the local technical support and service. The goal is 100% satisfaction from our customers and our distributor partners who help support our mutual customers.
